Meet our Dentists
Dr. William Powers started our dental practice in the Hilldale area in the early 1960’s. He practiced solo until 1983 when Dr. Brannen joined the practice. Dr. Powers passed away in 1985 and Dr. Brannen practiced alone until 1994 when Dr. Jay Yarbrough joined the practice.
Dr. James E. Brannen grew up in Camden Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he lettered in golf. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental school in 1983. He has been married to his beautiful wife for 37 years. They have 3 children: John, James, and Caroline. John and James are both dentists practicing in Middle Tennessee. Caroline teaches 3rd grade at Franklin Road Academy. Dr. Brannen is active at First Baptist Church and has worked with Good Samaritan Medical/Dental clinic for 35 years.
Dr. Yarbrough was born and raised in Clarksville. After graduating from Clarksville High school, he received his undergraduate degree from Austin Peay State University. He graduated from the University of Tennessee-Memphis dental school in 1992 and completed a General Practice Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1994. He has 4 children, Jacksen, Rachyl Ann, Oakley and Judah. His wife, Teren, is a pediatric nurse at Monroe Carrell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He enjoys running, duck and turkey hunting, and snow skiing. He also has participated in Camp Rainbow, a camp that caters to the needs of seriously ill children whose medical problems keeps them from attending regular camps, since 1994. He has been involved with the Good Samaritan Dental Clinic and the 8th District Dental Society. He and his family attend Grace Community Church.
